Have you ever asked yourself, “How do I know when I ‘have’ balance?” Or maybe a better question is: “What am I hoping balance will give me?”
- Is it a sense of fairness—where the energy you give is matched by what you get back?
- Is it finding harmony between thinking your way through problems and allowing yourself to feel or imagine solutions?
- Is it about being able to ask for support as easily as you offer it?
- Or is it the presence of peace, or the absence of guilt, anxiety, or overwhelm?
These questions can feel big, even overwhelming, but they’re worth asking.
For driven women, balance can easily become just another expectation we impose on ourselves—unless we take the time to explore what it really means to us.
Instead of asking, “What should balance look like?”, try asking, “What could balance mean to me right now, in this season of my life?”
Balance and Ease: Two Sides of the Same Coin
For me, balance and ease are deeply connected. Sometimes I think they’re one and the same.
Ease is the sensation I get when certain areas of my life are in balance. But here’s the tricky part—ease is also something I have to invite into my life. It’s a practice, a process, and a product all at once.
One of my clients came to this realization during our work together. She shared:
For her, balance began when she gave herself permission to experience ease—without guilt. She realized that if she didn’t allow herself to rest, she’d never break the cycle of overdoing and burnout.
A Common Struggle Among Empathic Women
This pattern isn’t unique. I see it all the time among the intelligent, driven, and deeply empathic women I work with:
These admirable traits—responsibility, drive, sensitivity—can slip into overdrive. They show up as anxious control instead of grounded, anchored authority. This overactive energy often stems from subconscious beliefs that keep us stuck in “doing” mode.
That’s why strategic inner work is essential. For my clients, this means identifying those underlying beliefs and releasing them through precise, targeted practices. It’s about shifting into patterns that serve you—so you can show up with ease, balance, and authority.
